“Every patient is unique and being able to listen and empathize is the best way for me to customize the most effective recovery plan.”
The word ‘unique’, according to Webster, means being ‘one of a kind.’ To paraphrase an old axiom, if you turn to that page in the dictionary you might see a picture of Dr. Tee Adeleke, the newest member of the team at Orthopedic Associates of Middletown. Not only does the word work well to define his background and career, but is also a key identifier of how he sees his role as an orthopedic caregiver:
“I relate to each patient individually because each one is unique. Every patient has his or her own specific ailment which in turn affects their quality of life in very different ways. Knowing their unique situations and being able to empathize is the best way for me to customize the most effective recovery plans.“
Dr. Adeleke D.P.M, who specializes in arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery, reconstruction, joint replacement, and foot and ankle trauma, was born in Canada of Nigerian parents, grew up in Louisiana, studied in North Dakota, Iowa, Pennsylvania and New Mexico, and chose his specialty after sustaining a severe ankle injury while playing college sports. Having spent quite a bit of time in rehab and with orthopedic experts, he decided to devote his life to helping others with similar injuries return to active, comfortable lives. “We are thrilled to have such a personable and talented foot and ankle specialist joining our group to serve the Middletown community. Dr. Adeleke D.P.M will have much success here because he is passionate about his skill and has a chair-side manner that is warm and caring, ” says Daniel Neal, Practice Administrator.
Dr. Adeleke D.P.M earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Jamestown in North Dakota, then embarked on healthcare and surgical training first at Des Moines University and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, which is one of the most prestigious residency programs in the country. Here Dr. Adeleke D.P.M learned sound, innovative surgical techniques in the foot and ankle and became a peer – reviewed published author.
“I believe I had the best fellowship training one can have,” Dr. Adeleke D.P.M says, referring to a very competitive fellowship he won at the renowned American Foundation of Lower Extremity Surgery & Research in Alamogordo, NM. It was at the Foundation where he became immersed in comprehensive training in more than just ankles and feet, and where he learned extremely advanced techniques, many of which he brings with him to OAM.
“Most Podiatric Physicians concentrate their studies at and below the ankle, but I have had extensive training from the knee down. I think that makes a big difference in how I diagnose ailments and treat my patients,” he says.
Still an active sportsman who plays football, basketball and works out regularly in the gym, Dr. Adeleke D.P.M now goes the distance for patients and maintaining their active lifestyles rather than for touchdowns and slam dunks.
“While as a group OAM covers many orthopedic disciplines, we nevertheless have one focus, one vision—and that’s to provide treatment for the entire body in one practice. That’s good for our patients. As for me, well, my specialty allows me to effectively contribute to our vision here at OAM while also affording me the ability to stay connected with the athletic world. What a unique way to combine all my interests!“
