Dr. Terry Reardon Continues to Win Both Patient and Professional Accolades:

A Testimony to Over 20 Years of Treating Patients from Head to Toe

November 30, 2017

Dr. Terry Reardon is fellowship trained in sports medicine and has over 20 years of experience in primary and complex joint replacement procedures. He has been named a CT magazine ‘TOP DOC’ for five years in a row. His expertise extends beyond sports medicine and joint replacements into total patient care. He is known in the community as a compassionate physician who takes time to listen and empathize with his patients while considering all therapeutic options available, surgical and non-surgical. He has returned patients to pain free lifestyles for more than 23 years and has performed over 14,000 surgical procedures on the shoulders, hands, hips and knees.

Dr. Reardon prides himself on maintaining a high level of continued education and training, staying current with state of the art treatment options and provides care for patients of all ages and sports activity backgrounds.

It is this kind of dedication and success that leads many patients to out of their way to share their OAM experience. One of the most recent patients is Dan Drew, the Mayor of Middletown (and 2018 CT gubernatorial candidate). “After Dr. Reardon repaired two separate injuries in my right shoulder, I began to feel like I did when I was 18 years old!” said the Mayor.

Although 90% of the patients he evaluates can be treated with non-operative options, Dr. Reardon utilizes advanced arthroscopic techniques and minimally invasive joint replacement when surgery is indicated. For example, carpal tunnel surgery, rotator cuff injuries and knee cartilage and ligament injuries can all be managed with minimally invasive arthroscopy. “We can take parts that are worn out or broken and with the greatest confidence, fix, repair or replace them.” He feels that the routine use of these advanced arthroscopic techniques reduces risks and lessens recovery time after surgery.

Dr. Reardon performs state of the art total hip and knee, partial knee, and shoulder replacements with minimally invasive techniques and offers computer assisted and outpatient options for the appropriate candidates. He takes pride in offering these advanced techniques in a community hospital setting. “Patients do not have to travel out of our area to receive the most advanced joint replacement care, surgical techniques and prosthetic options.

"I attribute much of my success to the fact that I listen carefully to my patients and make sure that together we fully understand and agree on what needs to be accomplished to return them to an active lifestyle with an improved quality of life." Dr. Reardon states.

His commitment to listening and empathizing deeply with his patients can be traced in large parts to his parents and his own history with sports. “I played football, baseball and then ice hockey in college and had sustained many injuries as a result,” Dr. Reardon describes, “I happened to have been influenced by my experiences with my Orthopedist throughout those years and it was not long before I knew my life’s professional focus would be on Orthopedics and sports medicine.

In addition to being recognized as a multi-year CT Magazine TOP DOCS, Dr. Reardon has earned other recognition awards such as US News and Report and Castle Connolly Top Docs, Most Compassionate Awards, and Patients Top Choice awards.

He would be honored for you to choose him as your Orthopedic Surgeon for all your orthopedic needs.
