Your Injury Is Unique to You. Your Treatment Should Be the Same.

"There are 27 bones and several tendons and nerves in the hand alone. It is a challenge to treat and cure the many potential injuries and conditions that can arise and I enjoy that"
- Dr. Ryan Naujoks

That is what first prompted Dr. Ryan Naujoks to specialize in hand and upper extremity treatment: the intricacy of the problems and the possibilities of care available to help his patients heal.

Dr. Naujoks treats a broad range of concerns like broken bones, carpal tunnel, joint replacement, and shoulder injuries. He also treats arthritis of the hand, thumb, wrist, and shoulder. Giving his patients options is important to his method of treatment.

"There are usually a variety of ways to get to a solution. That's why I talk to the patients and then develop a personalized strategy to treat them."

After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at UCONN, Dr. Naujoks completed a fellowship in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries at Allegheny General in Pittsburgh, PA. Here, he developed an interest in and began to specialize in treating Dupuytren's contracture, a progressive hand condition that affects how much you can move or straighten your fingers.

Dr. Naujoks has experience and success in using all three potential treatments for this problem- including collagenase treatment and needle aponeurotomy, which are alternatives to open surgery. "I'm proud to say that I am one of the few providers in Connecticut who offers needle aponeurotomy."

After completing his fellowship in Pittsburgh, Dr. Naujoks and his family returned home to Connecticut in 2010 and he joined Orthopedic Associates of Middletown.

"I joined OAM because it's allows me as a provider to be patient-centered in a smaller community setting, but also enjoy the technological advancements of a bigger city hospital."

Dr. Naujoks enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons traveling, being active and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
